Grower/Florist – Gathered At Dusk

Hattie Linfoot

When did you study with Tallulah Rose?

June 2024

What did you most enjoy about your 1:1 with Rachel?

Oh I have a long list! I would say that being in Rachel’s company, in a beautiful creative space was so special. Also how supportive and gently challenging Rachel was, as well her expert eye and experience that she so generously shared.

I often think about how wonderfully creative and inspiring the day was.

What is the best part of having your own floristry business?

I absolutely love the creative side of floristry and having my own business gives me the freedom to explore all the different elements of the industry and find my niche. I thrive on the fact that every week is so different.

What reflections do you have of your time spent at Tallulah Rose?

As I mention I often think of the day and channel some of the confidence and joy of it if I ever have a wobble (which happens when you run your own business!) I left the studio with a spring in my step and the belief in myself I needed.

What’s the best piece of advice Rachel gave you?

Rachel was full of wisdom and had so many super helpful nuggets of inspiration and advice.

One big takeaway from me was about how I should talk about my offer and my USP as a business and how that lands with potential customers. I think of that advice when writing copy for my website or social media.

What makes your floristry business unique?

I am a flower farmer florist, so I grow all the flowers I use. I only use British flowers and sustainable techniques.

I grow on one acre and the other 3 acres of the farm is given over to nature. I farm alongside nature and regularly see beautiful creatures as I am working.

What is your favourite time of the day (and why) as a florist / flower farmer?

The business is called Gathered at Dusk as when I first started I still had another job so I would head out at dusk to cut flowers. I also love that time of day, the light is stunning and there is a peace and calm energy that comes over the farm and quiet hum from the bees.

What is your favourite British flower that you grow on your farm and why?

Oh gosh what a question! If I have to pick one it would be sweet peas. Their scent is incredible; they come in a beautiful range of colours and their tendrils are the yummiest ingredient for a wedding bouquet.

I also love Dahlia, Cosmos and Zinnia. ( sorry I know you said only one!)
