Which course did you study at Tallulah Rose Flower School?

Ultimate Florists Hideaway September 2023

What did you enjoy most about the course?

Firstly, the course was held at the most breath-taking venue, right on the banks of Lake Windermere. I’ve attended residential floral courses in some truly special places before, but this setting was absolutely stunning and incredibly inspiring.

The course itself focused on bridal flowers, installations, costings, and floral mechanics—all delivered with such creativity and detail. But what I enjoyed most was being surrounded by an incredible group of women from all over the world, each of us drawn to the Lake District to learn from Rachel. We shared stories, supported each other, and formed real connections that have lasted well beyond the course. Many of us are still in touch today, which speaks to just how special the experience was.

What’s the best advice Rachel gave you?

That you never stop learning in this craft. Rachel’s courses aren’t just for beginners—they’re thoughtfully designed to reignite your creativity and give you the boost we all need from time to time. As florists, it’s easy to get caught up in the routine of day-to-day work and lose that creative spark. Taking part in a retreat like this is the perfect way to step back, refresh your perspective, and fall in love with the art all over again.

What has been your most memorable moment since finishing the course?

One of the biggest highlights to date was moving into our beautiful new shop last Christmas. It was such an exciting and emotional moment—just in time for our busiest season yet. The space felt like a true reflection of Country House Flowers, and the response from our customers was overwhelming in the best possible way. The support, kind words, and shared excitement made it feel incredibly special.

What is the best part of having your own floristry business.

The best part is getting to live and work in such a beautiful part of the world, surrounded by an incredible community and an abundance of locally grown flowers. Being based in North Norfolk means I have access to some of the best flower farms right on my doorstep—and there’s nothing quite like starting the day with a car full of freshly cut, seasonal blooms.

Back at the shop, no two days are ever the same. Whether I’m creating arrangements for online orders, welcoming customers from the high street, or preparing for a wedding or workshop, every task is rooted in creativity and connection. I love that this business allows me to work with nature, bring joy to others, and build meaningful relationships with my customers and local growers. It’s a true privilege to do what I love every single day.

What makes your floristry business unique?

At Country House Flowers we’re proud to offer something a little different to a traditional high street florist. Our floristry is rooted in a natural, romantic style inspired by the beauty of English country gardens—and driven by a deep commitment to British-grown flowers.

What truly makes us unique is our wholehearted focus on seasonality, sustainability, and local sourcing. We work closely with nearby flower farms to ensure our arrangements are as fresh, eco-conscious, and beautifully in tune with the seasons as possible. From thoughtfully designed wedding florals to our creative workshops and everyday bouquets, everything we do is guided by a respect for nature, timeless design, and a genuine love for our craft.

What’s  the best part of being a florist?

One of my greatest joys continues to be hosting our floral workshops. I absolutely adore running them. They’re such a creative outlet, and it’s incredibly rewarding to see the joy and inspiration the flowers bring to our guests.

What is your favourite British grown flower and why?

For me, it has to be the sweet pea. They’re the epitome of elegance—delicate, beautifully ruffled, and exquisitely fragrant. Sweet peas capture the very essence of early summer, filling a space with their soft charm and nostalgic scent. Even the smallest posy can brighten a room and lift your mood. There’s something so joyful and timeless about them—they never fail to make me smile.
