Which course did you study at Tallulah Rose and when?
I studied the 4 week career course in May 2014
What did you most enjoy about the course?
All of it! I felt excited and inspired everyday, you really do become immersed into a world of flowers and floristry; I lived and breathed flowers for those 4 weeks, and still do thanks to Tallulah Rose. I had the best teachers, who both encouraged and supported me every step of the way, they made me feel like I was more than capable to step out of the door and start my own business and become the type of florist I wanted to be.
What was the most important thing that you learnt during your time at school?
All of it was invaluable, but just learning to have confidence in my work and myself was the most important.
What are you doing now?
I started Vervain pretty much as soon as I finished at Tallulah Rose, and I knew from the beginning that I wanted to specialise in weddings and events. Weddings make up the bulk of my work, with the odd private event or photo shoot in there as well. People’s weddings are crazy amazing things to be a part of, they bring so much excitement and variation, no two brides are ever the same, which is why I love them so much. I also grow a lot of the flowers I use within my work, not everything, but growing means that I can add unusual and interesting elements to my pieces and is a side of the business that I really enjoy. I have also started teaching at Tallulah Rose, Rachel kindly asked me back to teach some of the one day courses at the school, which I am trilled about.
What’s been your highlight to date?
My highlight so far would be completing my first BIG wedding. There was a massive feeling of relief and pride when it was done, there had been months of planning and it had been all consuming for weeks before in order to achieve the final look on the day. After the relief there was then a moment of sadness that I couldn’t do it all again the next day!
