Which course did you study at Tallulah Rose and when?
I attended Rachel’s business course in Bath in 2020 where I remembered it snowed heavily. Rachel explained in detailed steps how to successfully run my own business sat in her lovely home with Lemmy the sausage dog, homemade cookies and lots of tea. A year later I bought back my amazing team to her dreamy new premises based in a country estate in the Lake District (we were delayed by thick fog in Guernsey by a day!)
What did you most enjoy about the course?
The wonderful setting was a bonus about the course, with inspiring chats to Rachel about what we could achieve and the selection of beautiful English flowers in which we could make our creations.
Are you seeing the financial returns to your business, that you had hoped for when investing in training with Tallulah Rose?
Financially we are seeing the returns from the course with Rachel, where she gave us the courage and confidence to push boundaries and be daring, which was something new to our little island of Guernsey.
What’s the best piece of advice that Rachel gave you?
Rachel’s best pieces of advice was to be brave and go for it. On this bespoke course she offered we gained the knowledge and confidence to create large hanging displays and free-standing arches which were a relatively new thing on the Island. I feel we now lead the way in becoming one of the best florists on the Island by pushing the boundaries and leading the way in design and flare and that is thanks to Rachel giving us the tools to do this.
What advice would you give other florists on how to create your perfect team?
The key to a perfect team is listening, communicating, laughter and wine. Our social jollies are the highlight of our diaries. I found my team 100% organically (now nine of us) and I adore them all, I can honestly say we are friends for life. I am affectingly known as Boss lady by the team.
What part of being a florist do you enjoy the most?
The best part of my job is seeing the brides faces when they come into the studio to see their wedding florals and bouquets for the first time. Seeing the tears of happiness is just a joy. I also love seeing how a bucket of flowers can get transformed into a thing of beauty.
Is there an opportunity that springs to mind that Tallulah Rose gave you the confidence to pursue?
We are well known for creating a lot of window creations through St Peter Port. Some of which I believe would be worthy in any London window. The hanging creations was definitely thanks to Rachel to be able to give this a go and is now one of our signature looks and designs.
What is your favourite British flower?
So many!! I do love a cosmos for the dreamy romance in a bouquet or table design.
