Which course did you study at Tallulah Rose and when?
I enrolled in the Online Career Change Course in December 2019 – Ready to begin my Tallulah Journey in January 2020.
What did you most enjoy about the course?
There are so many parts of the Career Change course that I enjoyed and looked forward to. The part that worked best or me was the flexibility. As I live in rural highland Scotland – any courses I had kept my eye on were miles away and would have meant taking a decent period of time off work which was not available to me at the time. With the Online Career Change Course it allowed me to work through the course at my own pace and as in 2020 Covid hit – I had plenty time to work through the business section! I also loved the way Rachael and her team put together such beautiful tutorial videos – you really got an essence and the atmosphere for Tallulah Rose Flower School without even being in the room. The videos were a joy to follow and the best bit was you could go back and watch Rachel with an arrangement over and over again!
Where are you currently on your floristry journey?
It’s been a bit of a whirlwind – after completing my Career Change Course and plucking up the courage to leave housekeeping in the private sector which I had been doing for around 12 years, I was approached to work in our local Deli, making bouquets and floral gifts where I stayed for just short of 2 years. After a sudden change in circumstances in January 2025 I decided to take the leap and start my own wee flower business – Jenna Mar Florals. I work from home from my flower cabin and run the business alongside working another job in mountain equipment. This allows me to have the best of both worlds and enjoy everything I do every day.
Jenna Mar Florals provides flowers for all occasions. Gift bouquets, aqua packs, gift boxes – to name a few. I also specialise in small, intimate weddings and elopement’s which are immensely popular here in the highlands. Tribute work also fills my calendar and it’s always a joy to create such personal pieces. I also have a flower honesty box which people can drop by and grab a bunch of seasonal flowers to fill their home with, and it has been a great success.
My floral journey has been fast, chaotic and a huge learning curve, but I love every minute of it and feel so grateful I can fill my days doing what I love.
What was the best piece of advice Rachel gave you?
The best piece of advice Rachel gave me was to look at the character of the flower and lean into what way they want to go, how does it want to move naturally – rather than forcing nature. I feel this has really helped my garden/natural style.
What’s the most valuable part of being able to say you trained at Tallulah Rose?
The most valuable part of being able to say I trained with Tallulah Rose is that Rachel’s school carries instant recognition of high standards, practices, style and ethos that people love.
If you could choose any course to study or re-study at Tallulah Rose, which one would it be?
I would love love love to enrol on the farewell flowers course and go to Levens Hall for the course to experience the full Tallulah Rose experience!
What’s your best highlight of the last two years?
My highlight of the past two years is receiving my branding and putting out my first bunch of seasonal flowers with my logo on the front. I worked super hard to get to that point and it was the icing on the cake to be doing it on my own – however terrifying too!
How have the contacts you made during your training at Tallulah Rose helped with your business?
Through enrolling with Tallulah Rose Flower School it allows you to have access to people and fellow flower lovers who have either been or are in the same position as you. It has allowed me to have contacts at my fingertips via the forum or an email to Rachel for when I most need it. I never hesitate to ask for advice or guidance and the response is always helpful and constructive.
