Tallulahs Take Over Tallulah with Jess Runciman founder of Fluoresse

As part of our ‘Tallulahs takes over Tallulah’ series we invite Jess Runciman, founder of Fluoresse, to host a day with us here at Tallulah Rose Flower School.

Jess joins us in July when British summer blooms will be in full swing! With a background in art and design Jess came to floristry after 12 years in fashion including styling, international retail and PR.

Since launching her business in 2018 Jess has been able to explore collaborative projects with various brands including Selfridges, Dr. Martins, Rixo, New Balance and END Clothing.

During the morning of this one one day course with Jess you will create your own floral sculpture using a hand crafted vessel, a pin holder and wire. Jess says…

‘The arrangements or sculptures are artworks in their own right and showcase colour, texture and form. People can go as bright, dark, neutral or sludgy [new fave word!] as they like. There’s no right or wrong and it doesn’t need to be ‘pretty’. The arrangements will feature lots of different textures, depths, sprayed foliages and some wiggly rogue stems doing their own thing. It’s more about using and placing the flowers intuitively, experimenting and making something impactful’.

After you have created your arrangement we’ll break for lunch giving you the opportunity to take a walk in the grounds here at Levens Hall or the nearby deer park. You can sample the home cooked delights that Levens Kitchen have to offer choosing to eat alfresco by the cafe, by the river or within the deer park. Picnics are available by pre ordered from Levens Kitchen.

After lunch you’ll return to school where Jess will demonstrate how she paints and decorates foliage and will show you how to create a painted ombre effect as well as stencilling too. Jess will talk you through working to a client brief for example a PR company that requires brand colours or a focal arrangement for an event.

Jess photographs a lot of her work herself because the final image is as much a creative process as the arrangements themselves. Jess say’s ‘visual identity is really important to me and I love that it’s always evolving, often through trial, error and happy accidents’!

Your arrangement, including the vessel, is yours to take away and enjoy. Please also note that lunch isn’t included in your course fee however refreshments throughout the day are.

We have limited place numbers to six on this course allowing plenty of opportunity to speak to, and learn from Jess and Rachel, the founder of Tallulah Rose Flower School.

Course Price – £350
