Dreams of becoming a florist??

tallulah to you (2)This summer, due to high demand, we’re opening our school room doors to welcome nine students eager to learn about the world of floristry! For those who are unable to take four weeks to complete our usual Career Change Course read on….

How are we doing this?

We’ve condensed our usual 4 week Career Change Course into a 2 week Intensive Career Change Course. Promising to be equally as challenging, we will work through the foundations of floral techniques from the hand-tied bouquet through to vase arrangements, wedding designs, sympathy flowers, along with event and contract work too. Aside from the practical we will also help you with the skills you need to start your new business, including marketing, branding, social media, business planning and funding.

Not wanting to compromise the course content and to ensure we maximise your time with us we’ve scaled down the business skills days. We’ve taken away the Covent Garden trip (although we’d be happy for you to join us on another occasion at no additional cost, please see the 2016/17 dates below) and have eliminated the practical side of the final interpretation during the final week of our 4 week course.

If you have dreams of becoming a florist but are unable to commit to 4 weeks then this is the course for you!

Hello I am interested in enrolling on one of your 2 week intensive courses next year. I am 54 and have always had a passion for being creative. I love flowers and my dream would be to run my own floristry business. I would be grateful for any advice
    Thanking you in advance

    Hello Rachel,

I am at LONG last, able to commit to attending the Career change course. However, now I see that there is a long wait… well it seems a long wait already!
What I want to achieve is being able to offer a Floristry service that is really only Gift led,Weddings and parties. I want to also sell gifts alongside the Flowers as I did before and if I did get premises, a vintage type cafe too… a place to relax in.
Therefore, what course would you recommend that I take considering the above?
I have since I have spoken to you, whilst helping to care for my late Father, I worked at The Real Flower Company last year and spent several days working within a Florist shop, in Hampshire, but there was never very much work!
Prior to this, I sold Flowers, alongside luxury Fashion and Homewares etc in my previous shop, in London, which were seasonal bouquets and bunches of blooms. However, that was closed in 2013!
I seem to have lost a lot of confidence since I closed my shop and not working Full-time, so i want to ‘ get back on track’ and make steps to realise some of my new dreams !
My partner, Richard, is a very knowledgeable Botanist and Head Gardener, on an Estate in Hants, but he is keen to effect a change and ‘do something together’. I wondered about maybe creating a ‘cutting garden’ and emulating what Georgie does at Common farm flowers, but i am more ‘ Ruby and the wolf’ in my style.
Rich would like to live on a barge, and move down to the Kennet and Avon canal …. so somehow I want to try and embrace doing all or some of these things! So, as I have some experience at Floristry, would you suggest the 2 week intensive and maybe a wedding course?
I just can’t wait to come and finally be able to attend your course, which I have truly dream’t about for the last couple of years Rachel!
I look forward to hearing from you,
    Julia xx
